Rom Check Fail Game Review

ROM CHECK FAIL is a retro platformer with a surprisingly fresh take on the genre. The premise is that you have three lives and must choose the right one at the end of every level to progress. Whenever you lose all three lives, you lose, and the game is over. The game has 20 levels, and if you complete them all, you get a higher difficulty level.

The game features an arcade-inspired glitch aesthetic and features a game engine resembling MAME. The title screen features an old videogame console trying to boot up. As you play, enemies and characters will glitch into other games. While this is a fun experiment, ROM Check Fail is a poorly executed game. It's not worth playing for its novelty value. It's a hack-and-slash mix of a lot of popular things.
